About FactRated
FactRated is an independent product-comparison platform built around a simple idea: use comparable facts where comparable facts exist, and show their limits instead of hiding them behind one review score.
The first FactRated release focuses on smartphones and slate tablets. It organizes standardized product measurements into search, filters, side-by-side comparisons, metric-specific rankings and explanatory guides.
What makes FactRated different
Many product pages combine laboratory tests, reviewer preferences, retail pricing and subjective scoring into a single verdict. Those approaches can be useful, but they answer a different question from FactRated.
FactRated asks:
What can we compare directly using standardized product data, and how can we make those measurements easier for consumers to understand?
For the initial smartphone/tablet catalogue, that can include measurements and declarations such as standardized battery endurance, battery-cycle durability, repairability, repeated free-fall reliability, ingress protection, screen scratch resistance, software-support duration and energy-efficiency class.
FactRated keeps those dimensions separate. A phone that leads on battery endurance does not automatically become the “best phone,” and a highly repairable model does not automatically become the most durable in every situation.
Data first, but not a database dump
FactRated is designed as a consumer-facing publisher and tool, not as a mirror of a source database.
We normalize source fields, keep compatible test cohorts separate, explain what each metric means, expose missing data rather than filling it with guesses, and connect the measurements to useful Finder, Compare, Ranking and Guide pages.
When a value cannot support a reliable comparison, we would rather leave a ranking unpublished than manufacture precision.
Independent from the data providers
FactRated uses official/public and authorized data sources where appropriate. The initial standardized smartphone/tablet comparison layer uses public European product-registration data. Optional product-name/image enrichment may come from authorized catalog sources when exact identity matching is available.
FactRated is operated independently. A data source appearing on the site does not mean that source provider endorses FactRated or FactRated's presentation of the data.
For details about normalization, ranking cohorts, missing values and source freshness, read the FactRated methodology.
What FactRated does not do
In the first release, FactRated does not:
- publish subjective star ratings;
- assign a universal overall product score;
- claim to have performed the standardized laboratory tests itself;
- infer missing specifications;
- rank camera quality, processor performance, price or other attributes without a deliberately added reliable dataset;
- call a product “best overall” because it leads one metric.
